We invite you a village Hodowica-Годовиця, spread around the Szczerek pond, some 10 kilometers from the center of Lwów-Lviv-Lemberg in Ukraine. From the 15th century, the inhabitants of the village lived and worked hugged to the royal city of Lwów: they went to the market with their fruits, vegetables, dairy products … There were blacksmiths, shoemakers in the village, a primary school was established in the mid-19th century.
A distinguished archdeacon of the Lwowian curia, Fr. Szczepan Mikulski, priest in Hodowica, friend of the greatest architects and artists of his time, at the end of his busy life founded a church dedicated to All Saints, inviting the architect of the Greek-catholic cathedral of St. Jura in Lwów – Bernard Meretyn, the famous sculptor – Johan Georg Pinsel and the painter of the frescoes – Aleksander Roliński. The artists created a church considered a pearl of late Baroque art in Poland.
Due to the architecture, sculptures and interior design, the church in Hodowica was – and still is – a unique, virtually invaluable object of the cultural landscape of the region of Lwów.
